Of course, if this method is not ideal for you, you can always opt to pay via a traditional bank transfer.

Travel Insurance in Iceland

Our local agency cannot directly supply you with travel insurance; meanwhile, in order to better meet our clients' needs, we have developed an agreement with the renowned European insurance company, GAN so that you can travel in Iceland without worry. The travel insurance contracts offered by the GAN comply with our own terms and conditions.

General Conditions for Sale

Iceland like a Local is a commercial brand of Ferdakompaniid / Icelandic Travel Company. Billing and payments are made in their name.

Making a Reservation

Reservations on Iceland like a Local's site can be made via e-mail with the local expert in charge of your request or by fax at +354/533 11 66. Be as specific as possible in your request so that we can best satisfy your needs. You should include passport information and numbers, flight information, requests for transfer services, details concerning the kinds of accommodations you want as well as any other services you may need.

Payment

A down payment of 30% will be asked of you at the time of your reservation if you make it over 30 days from the departure date of your trip. Once there are less than 30 days remaining until the departure of your trip, the rest of the payment will be asked of you. As soon as your down payment, or full payment, is complete, Iceland like a Local (Ferdakompaniid / Icelandic Travel Company) will begin booking the reservations for your trip to Iceland without further delay. A confirmation will be sent to you as soon as these arrangements have been made. You will be able to make your payments through our secure online payment system (details above) or by bank transfer (swift/iban).

Documents

Upon your arrival in Iceland you will receive all of your travel documents (vouchers, travel guides, equipment, maps.). Upon request and with an additional charge we are also able to send them to you before your departure.

Hotel Reservations

Your hotel preferences must be sent to us at least 8 weeks before the departure date in order to ensure availability as well as your satisfaction with your accommodations. The later you send this the less choices you will have when it comes to accommodations. .

Validity of Prices

All offers sent by Iceland Like a Local (Ferdakompaniid / ITC) are valid for 14 days. Once this delay is up we will be forced to recalculate our prices. All the prices that we send are based on the day you made your enquiry.
Iceland Like a Local (Ferdakompaniid) reserves the right to increase prices of each quote without advance notice in the event an considerable currency fluctuation, modification of government tax laws, or any other price augmentation outside of Iceland Like a Local's control (Ferdakompaniid). These augmentations cannot be applied less than eight weeks from the departure date.

Iceland Like a Local (Ferdakompaniid) will cover augmentations of up to 5% of the price of the trip. Over 5%, the client will be responsible for covering the price augmentation. If the augmentation rises to over 10% of the price of the trip, clients will be able to cancel their trip without paying any cancellation fees.

Cancellation

All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing (e-mail, letter or fax). In keeping with the practices of the Icelandic tourism industry, the following cancellation fees apply:

- 30 days or more until the departure date: 80€ per person
- Between 30 and 19 days until the departure date: 25% of the trip's total cost, minimum of 80€ per person
- Between 20 and 9 days until the departure date: 50% of the trip's total cost, minimum 80€ per person
- Between 10 and 2 days until the departure date: 80% of the trip's total cost, minimum of 80€ per person
- Less than 48 hours from the departure date: no refund possible

Change Fees

Iceland like a Local (Ferdakompaniid / ITC) reserves the right to charge 50€ for all alterations to the schedule agreed upon at the time the reservation was made.

Liability

Iceland like a Local (Ferdakompaniid / ITC) is not responsible for lost items, accidents, illness, changes in schedule due to inclement weather, strikes or any other event outside of Iceland like a Local's control (Ferdakompaniid). The traveller is responsible for all additional charges resulting from flight changes or delays (additional hotel nights, transfers...). Consequently, we advise out clients to purchase travel insurance. Optional excursions like horseback riding, diving or snowmobiling among others are the client's responsibility.

If the client is unsatisfied with his trip with Iceland like a Local, he/she must inform Iceland like a Local of this within 2 months of the end of the trip. No compensation will be awarded outside of this time-frame.
