This day is dedicated to the exploration of Thorsmork undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and spectacular areas of Iceland. Wedged between three volcanic glacial peaks and carved by ancient ice flows, the beauty this valley is only overshadowed by the massive umbrella of the glaciers. The Thorsmork valley is only accessible by a 4×4 track which is interrupted by many fords, but don´t worry, our vehicles cross these without fear as we take you to discover the landscapes that inspired the backdrop to Tolkien´s novels such as the beautiful waterfall Seljalandsfoss, the glacier tongue Gigjokull and the hidden canyon wonder of Stakkholtsgja. Then of course, the forest of Thorsmork itself, which is likely buried under a thick layer of snow. Here, we will find the foothills of the volcano “Eyjafjallajökull”, the one that, at its last eruption in 2010 was the subject of much talk and for most, impossible to pronounce! (Well, not for Icelanders of course!) On this adventure we may even teach you to pronounce this infamous name! Short hikes will be on offer, including the ascent of Valahnjukur that even though it appears small, offers spectacular views of the entire valley. At the end of the day, we head back to Hotel Selid to relax and enjoy another good meal.

There are yet more highlights to see before ending our adventure! We begin this final day by exploring the south coast: the impressive 60m high waterfall -Skogafoss, the Reynishverfi beach with it´s cliffs of impeccable basalt formations, not to mention an unforgettable detour through the volcanic sand beach of Skogasandur. Our super jeeps will flirt with the waves of the North Atlantic that sweep away any trace of our passage as we cross vast stretch of this black sand beach. We continue to the Reykjanes Peninsula and the discovery of wild coastlines and lunar landscapes shaped by numerous volcanic eruptions. Here, geothermal energy is manifested in various forms, such as at Krysuvik, where dense vapourstouched with theodour of sulphur escape from bubbling mud pools. After skirting the lake – Kleifarvatn, we reach the end of the day and our journey, the Icelandic capital.
