Arrival at Keflavik International Airport. Rental vehicle pickup and embark on your Iceland self drive. A detour is possible at the Blue Lagoon before heading to Reykjavik or you can keep the pleasures of bathing in this futuristic setting for the end of your stay. Check into your accommodation and spend the evening at your leisure in the world´s northernmost capital.

Night in Reykjavik.
Begin to discover the famous “Golden Circle“, a highlight of your Iceland travel. First stop at Thingvellir to explore the oceanic rift as well as the site of the oldest parliament in the world. Continue along the frozen waters of Lake Thingvallavatn, Iceland´s largest, towards Laugarvatn for a stop at the soothing waters of the Fontana Spa. Those brave enough will be able to test their resistance to cold by alternating between icy waters of Lake Laugarvatn and the warm tranquillity of the Fontana spa as you immerse yourself in fire and ice! Then comes the time to discover the Geysir and Strokkur geysers which, in winter as in summer, spouts skywards twenty meters every few minutes. A little further and you will admire the Gullfoss waterfall where the Hvita river has created an impressive canyon where winters harshness shapes beautiful ice sculptures.

On this day of you Iceland self drive you embark upon the south coast to discover the volcanic glaciers of Eyjafjallajokull and Myrdalsjokull. Black sand beaches and cliffs of columnar basalt that guard them as well as waterfalls and glacial tongues that slowing make their way towards the waiting shore. Stop at the Seljaland and Skogar waterfalls and visit the charming folk museum. Enjoy a swim in the outdoor swimming pool at Seljavallalaug. ( 30-35° c)

Do you long to experience the deep cold? Well put on your crampons and helmet, grab your ice pick and traverse a glacier to explore an ice cave that will also be your accommodation for the night.
The exact location is confidential, but we can tell you that it is located 25 km from the Skaftafell region.
Once you have arrived at the Vatnajökull glacier, it’s time to meet your equipment! Helmets, crampons and ice picks will make sure you are properly prepared! Enter the ice cave and be amazed by the many focal points as you discover the various shades of blue created by the varied density of the ice.
After a local Icelandic diner, set out your sleeping bag and enjoy your night under the glacier. What an adventure!
